What is FORAI?

FORAI (Friends Of Refugees And Immigrants) is a Christ-centered micro-business begun to enable refugees and immigrants to supplement their incomes through the production of quality, marketable handicrafts. Meeting monthly, Americans, refugees and immigrants come together for Bible study, fellowship, and English practice in the context of learning new skills and crafts while creating products to be sold through home parties, craft fairs, and other venues as God leads and provides.

FORAI has a three-fold vision encompassed in the phrase, “Coming together to create beauty and opportunity”. “Coming together” is in essence building community. We come together and learn from each other, give to each other, reconcile with each other. “Creating beauty” is a reflection of the image of God. We glorify Him as we use our gifts and talents to create things of beauty and we find healing as God redeems and transforms our pasts. “Creating opportunity” means that we find ways to “taste and see that God is good”. We see His goodness as we interact with one another and His word. And we taste of His goodness when we see Him providing additional income for us and our families.
